The Beanie Baby tush tag is the tag attached to the bottom of Ty Beanie Babies. The
"generation" of a tush tag helps to determine the age of a Beanie Baby. There are eight versions of the tush tags. All information and pictures was scanned from "mary beths bean bag world magazine"
First Generation
The first version tush tag is black and white and will have a copyright date of
either 1993 or 1995. All Beanies with a second generation hang tag will have either a first generation tush tag; there is no exception to this rule. The name of the country where the beanies were produced, either Korea or China, is printed on the tag along with the product information. Some tags have CE on them and some had "for ages 3 and up" written on them, and some did not.

Second Generation
The second version tag is red and white with a large red "ty" heart with a ® mark to the lower right of the heart. It has a
copyright date of either 1993 or 1995 printed on it, as well as either Korea or China, depending upon where it was
produced. CE also appears on all 2nd version tags. It stands for "Conformite Europeene" and indicateds that the
product complies with the European market. On some of the later tags, "FOR AGES 3 AND UP" was added.Item |

Third Generation
The third version tush tag features substantial differences from the prior two generations. It is red and white, but now
the name of the Beanie appears on the tag below the heart. "The Beanie Babies Collection ™" has also been
added above the heart. The "ty" heart on this tag is considerable smaller than the second version tag. The ®
mark is to the lower right side of the heart. It has a copyright date of 1993, 1995 or 1996 on it, as well as either Korea or
China. |
 |
Fourth Generation
The only change from the third version to the fourth version, which was introduced in mid-1997, is the addition of a red
star next to the heart. Initially, these tags had a transparent sticker over the heart which added a small star to the upper
left side of the heart. This was a "temporary" fourth version tag which occurred before the fourth generation tags were
finally printed. |
 |
Fifth Generation
The fifth version tush tag was introduced in October 1997. "The Beanie Babies Collection" at the top of the tag has ®
added after Beanie Babies. The star to the upper left of the "ty" heart and the ® to the lower right remain, but there is now
an additional ™ after the name of the Beanie Baby. These tags can have copyright dates of 1993, 1995 or 1996 |
 |
Sixth Generation
The sixth generation tag, introduced in January 1998, has the words "The Beanie Babies Collection" with ® after the word
Collection, as opposed to ® after Beanie Babies and ™ after Collection. The "ty" heart remains the same with
a star to the upper left of the heart and ® on the lower right of the heart. Some tags will show the pellet type as "PVC",
while others will show "PE". Dates listed will be 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. Newer sixth generation tags will have
a Chinese stamp on the inside of the tag designed to help thwart counterfeiters. This stamp is a light pink oval shape. |
 |
Seventh Generation
The seventh generation tag was introduced in January 1999. The tag has a morphing hologram above the Beanie's name
that is imbedded into the tag (it is not a sticker) and disappearing ink on the other side. The "ty" heart and "The
Beanie Babies Collection ™" are visible in light. There is no Chinese stamp on the inside of this tag. |
Eighth Generation
Introduces in September 1999, this tush tag shows all the identical information found on the seventh - generation version but is now a non - looped, single piece of material. The morphing hologram and Ty heart printed in disappearing ink are also present on this tag.
Canadian Tush Tag
Beanie Babies distributed in Canada have a double tush tag. This is in addition to one of the other tush tags as mentioned above. All information printed on this tag is printed in English on one side and French on the other.
