The Effect of Wind on Flight Or...How we were blown off course!
This Preschool lesson from U.S. Centennial of Flight Commission and The Franklin Institute Online is a great place to learn all about wind. It’s a complete science lesson on the power of air designed just for preschooler and has three sections:
- brainstorming about various objects that fly,
- constructing objects that fly and testing them under various weather conditions—specifically, wind, and
- asking questions to explore what changes minimize the impact of wind on flying objects.
The lesson plan and suggestions for simple activities which support it can be found at http://www.centennialofflight.gov/2003FF/effect/background.html
