How-To Guide: Printing Webpages
Q. When I print a webpage, I often print more than the part that I want. What should I do?
A. You can print anything from a webpage but remember that many webpages are very large. So when you tell the printer to print the page, the default setting will print everything on that page, even if it is 20 printer pages long. Listed below are four options for printing parts of a web page. Choose the one that best suits your needs.
Printing a Selection:
- Access the web page that you want to print.
- Select and highlight the section of text for printing.
- Click on File on the menu bar.
- Click Print... The Print dialog box will open.
- Under Page range, choose Selection. This will print only the selected text and graphics instead of the whole page.
- Click on Print at the bottom of the dialog box.
Copying and Pasting into Word:
- Access the web page that you want to print.
- Select and highlight the section of text for printing.
- Click Edit on the menu bar.
- Open a word document and click on Edit.
- Click on Paste. The selected text will appear in the document.
- Click on File.
- Click Print. The Print dialog box will open.
- Click OK at the bottom of the dialog box.
Printing a Graphic from the Internet:
- Find a graphic on the web page.
- Right-click on the graphic. A drop-down box will appear.
- Right click on Copy in the drop-down box.
- Open a word document and click on Edit.
- Click on Paste. The selected text will appear in the document.
- Click on File.
- Click Print. The Print dialog box will open.
- Click OK at the bottom of the dialog box.
Printing Web Pages with Frames:
There are some web pages that are made up of frames. Frames allow one side of the page to scroll up and down while the other side remains stationary. To print:
- Access the web page that you want to print.
- Click File on the menu bar.
- Click Print. The Print dialog box will open.
- Click on the Options tab at the top of the dialog box.
- You have 3 choices to print a framed web page:
- As laid out on screen will print the page exactly as it appears.
- Only the selected frame will print only the frame in which you had last clicked.
- All frames individually will print each separate frame on a separate piece of paper.
6. Select your print choice.
7. Click Print.
To see how a web page will print, use the Print Preview option before selecting Print.
