How-To Guide: Keyboard Troubleshooting
Q.
I’m pushing the keys on the keyboard but it isn’t responding. What should I do?
A. To troubleshoot your keyboard, do the following:
- Check to see if the keyboard cable has been disconnected from the keyboard port. Reinsert it if it has.
- Is the program frozen? Use CTRL-ALT-DEL to check for ‘Not responding’ programs and close them.
- If you have a keyboard from another computer, test it.
- Turn off the computer.
- Disconnect the old keyboard and connect the new keyboard.
- Turn back on the computer. If this keyboard works, your original keyboard may need to be replaced.
- If this keyboard doesn’t work, your keyboard port may be bad.
