How-To Guides: Adding, Organizing and Deleting Favorites

Many folks visit certain websites over and over again.  Favorites are a way to keep a list of these favorite websites without having to memorize the address of each one.  You can then access your favorite website by just clicking on a Web Page in your Favorites folder. 

1.   To Add a Web Page to your Favorites List:

  • Go to the web page you want to add to your Favorites List.
  • Click on Favorites on the menu toolbar.
  • A drop down menu box appears. Click on Add to Favorites
  • The Add Favorite dialog box appears with the name of the website in the Name: field.
  • If you want to keep the name of the website, click OK.
  • If you want to change the name, type the new name in the Name: field. Click OK.
  • The Web Page is added to your Favorites List.

 

2.   To View or Open a List of your Favorites:

  • Click on Favorites on the menu toolbar.
  • A list of all of your Favorites appears.
  • To open a favorite Web Page, click on the Web Page you want to open and the Web Page appears.

Once you have a number of Web Pages, you can organize by filing similar web pages into a folder.  Folders can be named with names like:  Lesson Plans, On-line Tutorials, Classroom Projects. You can then create, rename, move or delete folders or Web Pages.

     

3.   To Create a New Folder in the Favorites List:

  • Click on Favorites on the menu toolbar.
  • Click on Organize Favorites… and an Organize Favorites dialog box appears.
  • Click on Create Folder.
  • A New Folder text box appears which is highlighted.
  • Type a name for the folder over the highlighted “New Folder” text.
  • Press Enter.
  • The Name you entered appears instead of the “New Folder” text.
  • Click Close.

 


                                                                                              

4. To Move Web Pages into Folders:

  • Click on Favorites on the menu toolbar.
  • Click on Organize Favorites… and an Organize Favorites dialog box appears.
  • Click on the Web Page you want to move, and the webpage will be highlighted.
  • Click on Move to Folder…
  • A Browse for Folder dialog box appears.
  • Click on the folder where you want to move the selected file.
  • Click OK.
  • Click Close.


                                                                                                           

5. To Rename a Favorite Web Page:

  • Click on Favorites on the menu toolbar.
  • Click on Organize Favorites
  • Click on the Web Page you want to rename, and the Web Page will be highlighted.
  • Click on Rename.
  • Type the new name in the highlighted text box.
  • Press Enter.
  • Click on Close.

To Delete a Favorite Web Page:

  • Click Favorites on the menu toolbar.
  • Click on Organize Favorites
  • Select the Web Page you want to delete.
  • Click on the Delete button.
  • Click Yes when the Confirm Folder Delete dialog box appears and asks if you are sure you want to remove the folder and move its contents to the Recycle bin?
  • Click Close.
