How-To Guide: Printing Headings on a Multiple Page Excel Spreadsheet

There are times when you have a large Excel spreadsheet that will extend over several pages when you print it.  Often when printing the spreadsheet, the column headings will only appear on the first page. However, there is a way to show the column headings on each page of the document when printing.

 

1. In order to print the column headings:

  • Choose File.
  • Choose Page Setup.
  • A Page Set Up dialog box will appear.
  • Click on the Sheet Tab.
  • Under Print titles, click the red arrow to the right of the Rows to repeat at top:.
  • A Page Setup - Rows to repeat at top: dialog box will appear on your spreadsheet.
  • Click on the rows containing the titles you want to appear on each page.
  • A formula will appear in the dialog box.
  • Click on the red arrow to the right of the formula.
  • Click OK. 

 

2. To see how the worksheet will look before printing it:

  • Click on Print Preview.
  • The worksheet will appear as it will look after printing.

 

3. If you are satisfied with the way the worksheet looks, click on Print…

  • A Print dialog box will appear.
  • Click OK.
