Quick Clicks and How To Guides
Each month we focus on a new technology topic and explain the topic in easy to understand language.
Learn this month's Quick Click: How to Change Page Margins
Page margins are the blank space between the text in a document and the edge of the paper. Word automatically sets the margins, called the Default Margins, for the Top and Bottom Margins of the document to 1 inch and the Right and Left Margins to 1.25 inches.
If you would like larger or smaller margins (for instance, if you have an agenda or letterhead you would like to use) you can change these default settings. To change the margins:
- Click in the document that you want to change the margins.
- On the File menu, click Page Setup… A Page Setup dialog box will appear.
- Click on the Margins tab for all of the margins for the page.
- Double-click on the margin size you would like to change and then type in the new size.
- Or, you can click on the up and down arrows next to the margin size until you come to the size you would like.
- Repeat either steps 4 or 5 for each margin you would like to change.
- Click OK.
