Removing Content Filter
Removing the CyberStart Provided Content Filter (For DSL/Cable Modem Users)
Since the CyberStart configuration required child care facilities to access the internet through the CyberStart content filtering, internet access will not work correctly after July, 2006 unless you remove the CyberStart configuration by taking the following steps:
- Login to the computer as Staff with the password of cyber
- Go to your Start Menu, Select Settings, and Click on the Control Panel’s.
- Double Click on Internet Options (for Window XP users on the HP Computers, you may need to click on “Switch to Category View” to see this option).
- Select the Connections tab.
- Click on the Lan Settings button towards the lower left of the screen.
- Find the line titled Use a proxy server for your LAN and uncheck the box to the left of the line.
- Click OK twice.
- Log off the Staff account and log in to the Kids account.
- Go to your Start Menu, Select Settings, and Click on the Control Panel’s.
- Double Click on Internet Options (for Window XP users on the HP Computers, you may need to click on “Switch to Category View” to see this option).
- Select the Connections tab.
- Click on the Lan Settings button towards the lower left of the screen.
- Find the line titled Use a proxy server for your LAN and uncheck the box to the left of the line.
- Click OK twice.
- Restart your computer for the changes to take full effect.
Please remember that without any type of filtering on your Internet connection a child will be able to access any website on the internet regardless of the content.
